Mauro Parravicini

Mauro Parravicini, director of mauroparravicini architects was born in Como, Italy in 1969. He obtained the Architectural Degree Cum Laude at the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 1997. Until 2000 he worked for architectural firms in Italy and France, such as Mario Cucinella Architecs (MCA) and Cuno Brullmann s.a. in Paris. From early 2000 until end 2003 he worked as architect at the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Paris. This experience was followed by one year at the Giancarlo de Carlo office in Milan (2004) and three years (2005-2008) at OMA Office for Metropolitan Architecture in Rotterdam as project manager. Between 2008 and early 2010 he has been employed in Delft at Mecanoo architecten as associate architect and project leader. In 2010 he started his own company, mauroparravicini architects, as an opportunity to develop design and research by combining creative pragmatism with social and environmental responsibility.
His personal interest and background is focusing on technical solutions for sustainable circular design since his thesis: “Towards a reversible architecture, between industrialization and environmental sustainability. A project of dismountable and recyclable housing for a contemporary living”, issued in Milan, in 1997.
Mauro is since 2011 teaching on a regular basis at the Master in Architecture at the Technische Universiteit TU Delft, Faculty of Architecture, and occasionally at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam AHK and RAVB Rotterdamse Academie van Bouwkunst. His focus is on circular, sustainable solutions for the design of buildings and cities.
